Festival Fun -- In Rain, Students Shine

November 05, 2018
By Lake Pointe News

For the first time ever, rain sent LPA's Fall Festival indoors. Secondary students, who hosted the elementary families for the afternoon event, showed amazing flexibility to change the set-up for the games  booths, and treats.  Later in the evening, the secondary students enjoyed their own time of socializing, pumpkin carving, and dancing.

By Lake Pointe News

Being blessed with fall weather, secondary students and staff participated in the annual LPA Dodgeball tournament. Teams of three competed in a double elimination tournament and a team costume contest. This year, the tournament's first place title fell from the Justice League, the traditional teacher's team, and was claimed by the Men of Steel (pictured above in the back row).  For the costume contest, first place went to the Pink Ladies and second place went to the Geeks (pictured above in the front row).

Does A Positive Start Matter?

August 22, 2018
By Lake Pointe News

Absolutely! Ask any runner or sports team or traveler. A stumble at the beginning can certainly be overcome, but a good beginning sets such a helpful tone, one that provides confidence and momentum. Two weeks are completed out of the 17 week semester, and all appearance point to a positive start... thanks to everyone who has helped launch well. Can we do things (even) better next time? Certainly, and we've made notes on how to do so. If you have observations and suggestions, please share them: mailbox@LPA-SC.com.

Photo days went smoothly. Thanks to all who contributed. Purchasing photo sets is optional. Quality is guaranteed. If a purchasing family is not pleased, money will be refunded, since there is no make up photo day planned. For students who missed photo day, arrangements will be made for yearbook inclusion.

By Lake Pointe News

The Lake Pointe family celebrated all that God has done and is doing during our annual all family meeting! The board and executive team utilized this time to share exciting visions and plans for the next three school years--through the 2020-2021 school year. Among many other happenings, Lake Pointe is looking to continue making refinements in curriculum and improvements in policies, as well as celebrating a couple big anniversaries. At the end of the meeting, protected registration for current LPA families was open. We are excited to see how God continues to work in and through Lake Pointe in the upcoming year!

Campus Equipped with New Air Conditioning Units

June 13, 2017
By Lake Pointe News

Summer maintenance is under way! Those who joined LPA for our end of the year programs probably noticed that the multi-purpose room was rising in temperature. With the onset of summer weather, it became apparent that the air conditioning units in that section of the building were not performing up to par. Additionally, profesional consultation revealed that these units could not simple be repaired but needed to be replaced. As a result, Lake Pointe had two new air conditioning units installed last Thursday.  While this update to campus may not be one of the most notable to the eye, it is an important step in keeping our facilities up-to-date and functional.

A Fine Night for Art

May 11, 2017
By Lake Pointe News

The spring semester’s Fine Arts Night revealed talent across the grade levels. Opening the evening with a wide variety of musical talent, Mrs. Vinson and Mrs. Tyrpak lead the various music classes through a choreographed performance that combined and displayed the differing grade levels’ talent. 1st and 2nd grade music classes lead the way with hymns, sung and performed on the recorder. They were joined on stage by the beginner and intermediate violinists, who continue to play as the younger students exited the stage. The audience was then covered with a medley of songs performed by the advanced elementary and secondary ensembles.

After a small intermission where guests were invited to browse  the visual art displays throughout the building, the elementary drama group, the largest ever, performed the musical "Famous Kids of the Bible," with spirit, spunk, and humor. Through their theatrical display, students graced the LPA campus with the presence of prophets Nathan and Jeremiah, evangelist Rodah, and best friends Jonathan son of Saul and David son of Jessie--all in kid form, of course! These Biblical characters reminded the other performers, as well as the audience, that God values and loves people of all size, age, and position.

Verizon cell tower

January 03, 2017
By Lake Pointe News

Several in the LPA community have been asking about the construction personnel and equipment on power lines adjacent to the campus. It is authorized. The cellular carrier is leasing access in the utilities corridor from Duke Energy.

Verizon is installing a cell signal/receiver unit on the high tension tower closest to Hands Mill Hwy. Those for whom Verizon is their cell carrier, should prepare to celebrate, as the signal should improve dramatically. AT&T technicians helped to run the phone cable to the tower, so there may be a multiple-carrier arrangement. One can always hope!

Campus work

November 11, 2016
By Lake Pointe News

Two campus grounds improvements took place this week.

Creekside Landscaping used a load of topsoil to level low spots in the side and back yards so that students would be less likely to stumble during recess games. Seed and straw topped off the newly leveled ground.

Additionally, the parking lot was reshaped, and ruts were smoothed for an easier entrance to and through the parking areas.
