What does it cost to enroll at LPA?

It's a simple question that deserves an answer. First things first…

  • Private education requires tuition, so it is important that parents understand the value along with the costs.
  • Lake Pointe receives no federal funding, nor is the academy attached to a church, for financial support.
  • Cost reductions, such as for multiple-sibling discounts, can lower tuition.
  • The University Model saves parents money, compared to many other private schools. See below.

Below are annual costs for tuition and fees, for the entire academic year (both semesters).
New families and students incur admissions and training-oriented fees that are one-time only.

Fees Overview

One-Time-only fees for new student families

New family application fee
This $250 one-time, non-refundable fee applies only to new families and covers all of a family's future students.

Academic placement tests
for incoming new students are $25 per each student.

Training Fees
Training and orientation acclimates NEW Families for their role at an approximate $175 (one-time charge)

Annual Enrollment and Registration Fees

Student Administration Fee
Each year, this $250 fee applies to each student. This non-refundable fee covers expenses the school is charged per student, regardless of how many courses are taken, such as student insurance and association fees.

Grade Level Fees
This fee covers costs related to successfully running each grade level.  It includes materials, drop-off and other incidental training during the school year, elementary learning logs, book learning for most literature reading books, IOWA Basic Skills and PSAT testing, secondary retreat. For seniors, these fees include two transcripts, and graduation.

Book and materials rental and purchase fees
To ensure that families have the exact editions and materials needed, the academy provides necessary consumable and non-consumable books for rent or purchase, as appropriate. Rentals help hold down family costs.

Payable at Registration

Tuition Deposit and Fees
A tuition deposit of 10% is required, along with all fees, for registration.
This payment  is non-refundable unless a course is canceled or substantially changed by the academy.

       * All fees must be paid in full at the time of registration.

Extra-curricular Activity Fees
Sports and Club fees (outside of a class) vary by the activity, and apply only to those participating in those activities.

Important to know about costs

  • Alternate day class University Model attendance means twice the number of students use the same facility
  • Note that a real level of parent "sweat equity" is involved that lowers the tuition cost.
Parents contribute their other currency -- TIME and CLOSE INVOLVEMENT -- in their child's learning exercises, in ways they wouldn't in a traditional school model.

Exceptions to full-time enrollment are reviewed on an individual basis, for situations that are mutually-beneficial.

The academy's standards, integration between grade level subjects, and course requirements need to be considered.

If approved, less than full-time admission allows a student to participate in LPA's academic, extra-curricular, and student life programs.
