From pilot to pulpit, pastor invests experiences into LPA students

Henry Beaulieu has a wealth of experiences, and one that still drives him is his time teaching and leading in Christian education. When he received a call to pastor Redeeming Grace Presbyterian PCA in Lake Wylie, he contacted Lake Pointe to inquire about teaching opportunities. When one came available this year, he was gracious to accept it.

Teaching at the tenth grade level, Mr. Beaulieu is instructing Hermeneutics this fall and Christian doctrine in the spring. Helping young people to understand God's Word and the power it has in their lives drives him to, well, to drive from his other duties on the other side of Lake Wylie.

What is hermeneutics?

Hermeneutics is the study of the principles in reading, understanding, and interpreting the Bible. Focus includes context, interpreting Scripture by Scripture, and following methods, while asking the Holy Spirit for guidance. "Hermeneutics" comes from the Greek word meaning "to translate" or "to interpret."

Before

From pilot to pastor

Pastor Beaulieu pronounces his name "Bowl-ee-oh." He grew up in Montgomery, Alabama. After attending Wheaton College, he served 15 years as an active-duty army officer and aviator, followed by 22 years as chaplain in the service and National Guard. He retired from the military in January 2023.

After earning a Masters of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary, he received certification in counseling. While serving as a pastor and counselor at two churches in Alabama and then Statesboro, Georgia, he caught the bug for education, teaching several years in a Classical Christian School and serving as headmaster.

Henry and his wife, Gretchen, have been married for over three dozen years. They have four children and eight grandchildren.
