Ladies hoops defense toughens

The Mariner defensive sets up against Union.In their second road game of the young season, the ladies’ varsity continued to show improvement and potential. They players stayed focused and driven, and they played hard for the entire
game. In the end, they came up short against a strong and well-coached Union Christian Day.
Ann Marie WhiteThe Mariners played a very aggressive game and worked hard on defense. Coach Hope Robinson was pleased with the team’s improved offensive penetration and shots. Down by just three points at the half, expectations were high. Unfortunately the green shirts were unable to fully capitalize, hitting a scoring dry spell in the final quarter. The Eagles won 25 to 15.
Sophomores Hailey Willingham and Jenna Tyrpak led the Mariner scoring with 7 points and 4 points respectively. Other shots were contributed by sophomore Eleana Destefano and freshman Anne Marie White.
