Wm's BBall: good, bad news

Women's team shows great promise

The bad news may be that the women's varsity lost its first game in Columbia Thursday, but there is very good news: there was much in the team's performance to point to success for the rest of the season.

The Lady Mariners got behind in the first half against a speedy and rebound-oriented Providence squad. Although they showed great offensive improvement in the second half, the Mariners found the gap too great to close. Jenna Tyrpak led the team's scoring, followed by Hailey Willingham, GiGi Palacio, and Ann Marie White.    Captain Jenna Tyrpak kicks off the game and the season.

Featuring several younger players, this season's team offers  a high level of enthusiasm and athletic ability that should lead to wins in upcoming games.
