Men's BBall strong in tip off

Men's squad thunders to early lead

When the first quarter buzzer sounded, the varsity guys had put 22 points on the board. An offensive blitz, combined with outstanding rebounding by senior Travis Townson and others, kept the score lights changing. Alex Kurtz nailed two back-to-back 3-pointers in the quarter, and the green jerseys never looked back.

The Mariners never trailed, although the Panthers brought an intense burst of full-court press that whittled the lead to 10 points. While the Panthers trailed in baskets made, the Providence team played with intensity and never gave up. Against this challenge, Coach Marc Kurtz was pleased at his team's response to the pressure.

Alex Kurtz led with 20 points, followed by spirited play from junior Brandon Laurencin who chipped in 16 points. Other scorers included Ryan Kidd, Benjamin Spratley, Travis Townson, and Jared Kurtz.
