LPA students #1 in football
Monday, October 31, 2011 at 05:52PM A couple of LPA students and an alumna are heading to the football championship this weekend in
Buck BarfieldMorganton, NC. The pair, 9th grader Buck Barfield and 10th grader Caleb Johnson, play for the Carolina Crusaders football team, which saw both its varsity and junior varsity teams win playoff games in Johnson City, TN this past Saturday night. The playoff victories cap a season in which both teams ended their regular seasons in first place.
Since LPA does not offer football as a team sport, the school has supported student participation in the Carolina Crusader football team and its cheerleading program. The Crusaders play in the Pioneer Football League, fielding players from home schools and smaller private schools. The squad practices at nearby Allison Creek Presbyterian Church, and this season played its home games at Sullivan Middle School’s field in Rock Hill.
LPA Alumna Kailee Barfield coaches the team’s cheerleaders this season.
