Leading the field
Secondary students planned and executed the annual spring elementary Field Day event, held at the beautiful Camp Canaan on Sand Island in Rock Hill. The student leadership and service project blessed over 200 elementary students and parents.
Three dozen secondary students, teachers, and parents volunteered at the Operation Christmas Child warehouse in Charlotte recently. The group helped pack gift shoeboxes for children around the world. This is the seventh year LPA has been involved in the OCC shoebox program.

As 5th grade students dig into an archeology exercise, all Lake Pointe students dig into the fall semester's learning. This autumn, LPA began with the highest enrollment in its eight-year history.

During the training week before classes began, parents, teachers, and students took part in training sessions, a meet-and-greet, and fellowship lunches. Training sessions included presentations by Andrew Kern of the CiRCE Institute and Dr. Kathy Koch of Celebrate Kids.

The choice people have to make in education is the same one continually called for in the Old and New Testaments: choose this day whom you will serve. This was the opening message for the recent CiRCE Institute's classical Christian education workshop, held at LPA. Fifty-three teachers and parents attended the workshop, which drew regional participants from Columbia to Concord.

According to Kern, when people reach for the fleshly choice in teaching, learning, and assessing, it leads to anxiety -- and away from God's blessings.
