Andrew Kern to speak

Andrew Kern will encourage the LPA community at the teacher-parent dinner November 15. Kern is an author, teacher, curriculum-developer, and founder and president of the CiRCE Institute.

With a passion for classical education, the educator has trained teachers, led board retreats, and has assisted with institutional development and start up of over 100 schools since 1996. Since 2000, he has given full-time attention to directing the CiRCE Institute, an educating and consulting service to empower and equip classical educators nationwide.

Co-author of the best-selling book Classical Education: The Movement Sweeping America, Kern is also the creator of The Lost Tools of Writing. His appreciation for strong compositions skills led to a speaking partnership called "The Two Andrews on Writing" with Excellence in Writing founder Andrew Pudewa.

OTHER EXPERIENCE:

  • He serves on the board of The Society For Classical Learning (SCL).
  • Helped to start four classical academies in Wisconsin, Idaho, and North Carolina.
  • As an instructor, taught students from 2nd to 12th grade
  • Has experience in teaching home school students

  • In research, has focused on the history and practice of classical education.
  • Andrew and Karen Kern, the parents of three boys and two girls, live in Concord, NC.
