Primary trip to Windy Hill

A group of fifty primary students, parents, and teachers traveled to Windy Hill Orchard in York. The field trip reinforces the kindergarten studies of fall themes, and the chance to enjoy a beautiful fall day on the farm offered the participants an enjoyable time.

Other elementary field trips scheduled for the fall include a visit to Historic Brattonsville and a trip to Discovery Place's "Mummies" exhibit to go along with the ancient history focus of the older elementary students.

Lake Pointe encourages parents to attend the various field trips to build common learning experiences with their children. This approach usually surprises workers at the museums and other sites whose normal frame of reference for a field trip is a bus pulling up, loaded with out of control children.

"Parents are involved in the learning, but their presence also helps keep the students focused on the purpose," explains principal Louis Lemmon. "The goal is to show honor to those in charge of the site and to the other visitors, too, and we can have an exhilerating good learning time together while doing that."
